At its 54th Annual Gala event held at the immaculate Tustin Golf Club on June 17, the Tustin Chamber of Commerce presented DCH Tustin Acura the 2011 Business of the Year Award (for the large business category). This award has been established since 2003 to recognize the businesses in Tustin ; large (over 50 employees) and small (under 50) ; who have exemplified community involvement, business ethics, voluntarism, and customer service.  The Gala night was held also for the installation of the newly elected officers for the Tustin Chamber of Commerce. Many state and local dignitaries and member business owners were in attendance.

"It was a total surprise to us", said Dick Hsu, the General Manager of Tustin Acura. "We did not seek out to win this award. We were simply doing what we thought was the right thing to do in our community. A fellow business owner and a chamber member nominated us for consideration by a committee set up by the Chamber for this award. We became a winner after their review process. Knowing that there are literally thousands of businesses in the community and the Chamber has chosen us, we are honored and humbled by this recognition".  At the Gala, the Assemblyman Don Wagner, representative from Senator Mimi Waters, Mayor Jerry Amante and Councilmen John Nielsen and Al Murray all presented the dealership with a certificate of appreciation.

Coincidentally, DCH Tustin Acura is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. It held a gala party for this momentous occasion in May. At that event, Mayor Amante, along with 4 Council members, praised the store as a good corporate citizen in the community with various voluntary community involvements as well as a major contributor of the City's tax base. The chief of Acura sales Division Jeff Conrad was on hand that night and complimented the dealership for its outstanding service to its customers enabling them to win the highest honor from Acura :The Dealership of Distinction Award for the 8th time.

What separates this Business of the Year Award from the other awards that Tustin Acura has won is that it is not from the auto industry and it's not a measurement of how well the store serves its customers. Rather, it takes into account of how well it serves the community.  "Since establishing its business in Tustin in 1986 as the charter dealership for the Acura brand in Orange County, Tustin Acura has been involved with many community organizations and contribute funds to Tustin Community Foundation, Tustin Public School Foundation, Tustin Senior Citizen building, Boys and Girls Club, Orange County Mission, etc.",  recited by Kim Tucker, the Committee Chairwoman for the Tustin Chamber as the Chairman of the Board Ned Smith presented the plaque to Dick Hsu.

Most recently, the Tustin dealership has been involved with the teen safe driving project and is the sponsor for two SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) chapters to both Beckman and Tustin High schools. This month, Tustin Acura and its parent company DCH are sending 7 students and two faculty members to attend the national SADD convention in Chicago for a 5-day event. There are over 200 students at these two local schools belonging to the SADD chapters promoting teen safe driving. Beckman's chapter won the outstanding students club award from the school this year.     
In the memo to its employees, Hsu thanked his teammates and encouraged them to share this honor with family members, "All your hard work and contribution which makes DCH Tustin Acura an admired business in our community has been recognized. Not by our customers, the factory or auto industry this time, but by the people who do not have direct business relationship with us. It's all the more remarkable and significant. They have chosen us for this award mainly based on our reputation in the community and their knowledge of our involvement. Annually, you have participated in the toy drive for the needy children, food drive for the hunger, Race for Cure to fight for cancer, blood drive for Red Cross and disaster relief for the earthquakes, etc.. Let's continue our tradition of voluntarism and be a responsible and compassionate citizen in the community."

Acura Honored Again It beats Lexus, BMW and Mercedes-Benz	Great news for Acura owners!  For the second consecutive year, Acura has received the Automotive Lease Guide (ALG) 2010 Residual Value Award for Best Luxury Brand. According to ALG, Acura's line of luxury performance vehicles is expected to retain the highest percentage of their original price after a three-year period. Acura beat out other luxury brands such as Audi, BMW, Lexus and Mercedes-Benz for the highly coveted award.  This means when you lease a new Acura you'll get a much better rate. Also, when you sell your Acura later, you'll retain much better value than the other cars.
	Making sure your Teen's Car is Safe If a new school year means having a car, perhaps a new year's resolution is in order for your teen. Experts say it can be very effective if each of you makes a promise out loud to be a safe driver. Safety begins with driving a safe vehicle. And the person ultimately responsible for that is a teenager.
