To give it a more substantial presence, Acura designers increased the RL's overall length, by about 2 inches and gave it a more massive, deeply sculpted font end, with sharp, clean edges.
One of its more distinctive features is the bold, new interpretation of the Acura signature grill.
Along the RL's flanks, special chrome accents on the door handles, windows, and body, further highlight the styling.
18" aluminum alloy wheels and performance rated all season tires contribute to its powerful, aggressive stance.
The graceful rear roof pillar and curved back glass blend into the high rear deck with its integral aerodynamic spoiler. While, chrome accents and LED tail lights further contribute to its high tech image.

The RL's Aerodynamic steeply sloping windshield, underscores its performance nature, and the cabin's generous glass area, gives the driver and passengers an outstanding view in all directions.
But, perhaps the most important thing to remember about the RL's cutting edge styling is that it makes a statement.
It says that Acura is a forward thinking technologically driven, brand.
Interior: Comfort, Quality, and Style
Many Acura RL owners state that the interior quality, comfort, and style were major influences on their purchase decisions.
?And the New 2010 Acura RL's interior is even better.
Modern, attractive, and engaging, it's one of the finest in its class. The Quality is first class too. The finest materials are used, including thick pile carpeting, perforated leather trimmed upholstery, and available genuine wood trim. With no loose edges or mismatches surfaces or seams anywhere.
The leather trimmed seats are luxurious and comfortable. The seat back, lumbar and seat cushions are all specially designed to minimize fatigue on long drives and trips, or when sitting for extended periods of time in their cars.
The new interior is also quieter and a more relaxing place to spend time. Thanks to special sound absorbing windshield glass, ample sound insulation, and specially tuned engine mounts.
And the RL's innovative active sound control system actually uses the audio system to filter out any low frequency booming sound that might occur. It also allows lets the driver and passenger enjoy the sporty sound of the exhaust system when accelerating.
For 2010 New luxury features include brushed metal finished instruments, a center stack with redesigned easier to use fan controls. The high level of standard comfort and convenience features found in the RL, rivals the content of many high end premium automobiles.
Technology and CMBS/ACC models have new features that owners will love,

Ventilated front seats that help cool down the driver and passenger when its hot outside, and when it's cold outside the RL's standard heated front seats now feature three different temperature settings.
So both the driver and passenger can always find the right the right individual seat setting regardless of the outside temperature.
Front passengers will also love the new 10 way power passenger power seats; 8 way power seats with 2 adjustable lumbar controls provide relaxed comfort for passengers of all sizes.
With so much luxury, comfort and room it's not surprising that many RL owners describe its interior as a quiet relaxing retreat that they always look forward to spending time in, their own personal space away from distractions fo home office.
CMBS/ACC models also have luxurious genuine wood trim on the instrument panel, and CMBS/ACC and Technology Models feature simulated wood on the steering wheel and leather and simulated wood on the shift knob.
To create more comfort and a great sense of spaciousness, for rear seat passengers. Acura redesigned the rear seat cushions and sculpted the front seatbacks for more knee room.
Many owners are attracted to luxury performance automobiles because of their high level of performance in engineering.
That's why Acura Designed the 2010 RL to be a true driving enthusiast car, and a technological show case for advanced Acura engineering.
Specific upgrades to the 2010 RL includes a larger more powerful engine, enhanced handling, and a more agile super handling all wheel drive system.

The 2010 Acura RL's new 3.7 Liter single overhead camshaft VTEC engine, is one of the most powerful, 6 cylinder engine in it's class. Horse power has been raised to 300, up 10 from the previous 290 and torque is up 15 lb-ft from previous 271 lb-ft.
One of the innovative new features of this engine is its new next generation intake and exhaust VTEC system. In addition to the intake valve VTECH of the previous RL engine, this advanced new system, adds the torque and mileage boosting benefits of VTEC variable valve timing to the RL engines exhaust valves, an engineering first for and Acura engine.
Intake and exhaust VTEC gives the RL engine strong torque output through its entire rpm range and for drivers that means faster acceleration and easier merging with traffic, and quicker passing on the highway.
But there is more to the RL's performance than power, its light weight sophisticated aluminum-alloy double wishbone suspension, and electronic power-assisted steering has been tuned for enhanced responsiveness.
The new performance tuned dampers give the RL a smooth controlled ride. Whither it's carving through the turns or just cruising down the highway.
SH-AWD or Super Handling All Wheel Drive, daubed on the 2005 RL. For 2010 Acura engineers have retuned it. So that drivers can now feel its enhanced agility in everyday driving situations. That's because, unlike other all wheel drive systems, Super All Wheel Drive Handling systems is a performance based system. So it not only varies torque between the front and rear wheels for increased traction in inclement weather, but also from side to side at the rear, so that the outside wheel creates a turning affect that actually makes the RL respond quicker to steering input. SH-AWD optimizes performance efficiently because it only drives the front wheels until it's needed.
So it's more fuel efficient than other AWD systems.
One of the best examples of the RL's driver oriented interior and controls, is its racing car style smart paddle shifters, that allow drivers to shift manually to allow more driver involved driving experience.
For 2010 Acura has redesigned them so they can be used at any time in both the "D" and "S" modes for quick gear changes when ever desired.
When test driving note how smooth and responsive the Acura RL is. Note the Drive-by-wire throttle system instantly responds when accelerating and how thanks to the SH-AWD there is practically no delay between the time the driver moves the steering wheel and when the RL starts to turn, or how the RL's powerful 4-piston front brakes give the break pedal a firm solid feel.
The 2010 RL is indeed a serious driver's car, but then would Acura build any other kind?
Moving on to Acura's Advanced Technology on the 2010 RL?
...all Acura RL's have a USB audio interface with iPod integration, an MP3 auxiliary jack, and a radio data system. More capability has been added to the Bluetooth hands free link as well as a Bluetooth audio system. Also Technology and CMBS/ACC RL's have the following new technologies for 2010: Acura Satellite navigation system with enhanced capabilities, Acura Link real time weather, Traffic Rerouting, automated appointments, XM Radio Note Function.
The RL's advanced navigation system with voice recognition is widely regarded by automotive critics and owners a like as one of the best and easiest to use system in the industry. The 2010 RL uses the latest version of this system with the following upgrades. Voice recognition has more commands and also responds to a greater range of driver speech variations.
The systems overhead microphone has greater sensitivity and it more effectively filters out background sounds, such as wind or air conditioning noise.
Acura link real time weather is a brand new feature that provides the driver with temperature and weather forecast information updated every 90 seconds, for anywhere the navigation system covers, and advises drivers of hazardous weather conditions such as storms or flooding that may occur on route to their destinations.
Acura link real time traffic will tell you where the traffic is, but wouldn't it be nice if you could avoid it all together?
That is exactly what the RL's traffic rerouting system does.
Clients must first go to the navigations setup menu and enable traffic rerouting. Then, when a route is entered into the navigation system, the traffic rerouting system can automatically reroute them around heavy traffic and congestion, incidents, construction, road closures, and weather related problems.
Traffic rerouting will only choose an alternate reroute if it is 10% or 2 minutes faster. If the trip is longer than 100 minutes, the system will rerouter if it can find a time saving of at least 10 minutes. Traffic reroute is set to OFF as the default position. So you must turn this feature on to use it. Also, Clients must have a subscription to XM-Nav Traffic which also requires a separate subscription to XM-Radio.
The RL's Automated Appointments feature enables Acura link clients to conveniently make, reschedule or cancel service appointments for maintenance minder events through Acura link and the navigations screen, it will also remind the client of dealer appointment that were made on line through "MY ACURA". To do this, the client will need to first visit Acura's "MY ACURA" and register the required settings, including preferences for times and days of the week. They will also have to have a Bluetooth enabled phone with hands free profile paired to hands free link and a compatible data service plan.
Ever hear an artist on the radio and want to record a snip it of them for future reference?
Acura link equipped RL's who have XM-Radio now have note function. Pressing and holding the XM button for 3 seconds will give 10 seconds of up to 30 songs. It will record the artist's name, song title and 10 seconds of the song, which can be accessed at the driver's convenience.
The 2010 RL retains the previous models outstanding Acura Bose 10 speaker surround system plus now it has even more capabilities. For example the FM radio features a radio data system or RDS. RDS reads the digital signals that are broadcast by FM stations, allowing clients to view song titles, artist's names, and other information. Clients can also search for music by specific Category, such as rock, country, jazz, and other favorites.
The Audio system also features USB audio interface with iPod integration, an MP3 auxiliary jack, and Bluetooth Audio. The USB audio interface lets clients dock, charge and control a variety of digital audio players directly through the audio system and the steering controls. Information such as the artist and song will be displayed on the RL's Audio screen. USB mass storage drives, such as flash drives can also be used to play back mp3, wma, or acc music files, and can also display the song title, artist, and other information on the audio screen. *Note Disclaimer: The USB audio interface is used for direct connection to and control of some current digital audio players and other USB devices that contain mp3, wma, or acc music files, some devices with security software and digital rights-protected files may not work. Please ask the dealer for further details on compatibility.

Bluetooth Audio is another new feature that lets clients play high quality digital audio from compatible Bluetooth enabled phones with music players and Bluetooth audio profile. However not all Bluetooth phones will support this capability. Refer to www.acura.com/handsfreelink for more details and a list of compatible phones and further information.
When paired with a Bluetooth enabled phone with audio profile, the RL's Bluetooth hands free link wireless telephone interface lets drivers have the convenience and safety of a hands free phone system. For 2010 RL owners will be able to send a single phone number stored in their mobile phone directly to their hands free link address book. The system can hold up to 50 contacts. Navigational equipped RL's now allow clients who have a compatible phone to import their entire phone book, up to 1000 contacts per phone and up to 10 numbers per contact for a total of 10,000 numbers per phone, into the hands free link phone book memory in a single operation.
But even with all this safety, Acura engineers have made sure that the 2010 RL remains state of the art by adding the Active Front Head Restraint system. This helps protect the occupants head and neck during the event of a rear end collision, preventing it from traveling too far rear ward, the typical cause of whiplash.
In the 2010 RL, Acura designers and engineers have created one of the most extensive minor model changes ever.
All for the purpose of increasing it's appeal to our customers.
